Features
Electronic invoicing is an automated system for sending and receiving invoices and credit notes in digital format. Sending an invoice by email in PDF or Word format does not meet the criteria of an electronic invoice. An electronic invoice is in UBL format in Belgium and/or Factur-X in France.

Its advantages:
Cost reduction: Less paper, printing, and postal sending.
Increased efficiency: Faster processing of invoices, reducing payment delays.
Reliability: Fewer human errors thanks to automation.
Security: Electronic signature and secure archiving.
Compliance: Adherence to local and international regulations.
The legislation:
In Belgium, from 2026, electronic invoicing will become mandatory between businesses, and it is already required for Belgian public administrations.
In France, starting from September 1, 2026, large companies and medium-sized enterprises (ETI) will be required to issue electronic invoices (factur-X), followed by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and micro-enterprises starting from September 1, 2027. All companies will also need to be able to receive electronic invoices from September 1, 2026.
In the European Union, electronic invoicing is expected to become the standard starting from 2028.
